Pacifica Quartet and Anthony McGill premiere Quintet for Clarinet and String Quartet by James Lee III

With plans to tour together in 20/21 sidelined, longtime friends and collaborators, the Pacifica Quartet and Anthony McGill began planning how to safely get together to capture a performance. Recorded live in Bloomington, IN at an exquisite private estate, the Pacifica and Anthony made an exclusive performance to be shared with chamber music fans far and wide on March 21, 2021.

Both artists are champions of works by underrepresented composers which is reflected in their curating this program. In addition to quartets by Florence Price and Fanny Mendelssohn, the fivesome will be giving the world premiere of James Lee III’s The Clarinet Quintet. Anthony has performed a number of James’ pieces, including an unaccompanied piece premiered in 2020, and the quintet is eager to share this work with audiences.
